A settlement that looks wrong is the report we most want to receive, and the one most likely to be a real bug rather than a misunderstanding. To make it fixable in one round trip, include as much of this as you can:
- Which game it was (Skins, Nassau, Wolf, and so on) and the unit stake.
- How many players, and their handicaps if you were playing net.
- The hole where the numbers first went wrong, and what you expected instead.
- A screenshot of the Standings or Settle Up screen. This is usually enough on its own.
- Your iOS version and iPhone model, from
Settings → General → About.
Because there is no crash reporting in the app, we genuinely do not know something broke unless you tell us.
Common questions
Does everyone in my group need the app?
No. One person keeps score for the group, which is how most people already play. That phone is the scorecard.
Do I need an account?
There isn't one. No email, no password, no sign-in. You open the app and start a round. This is also why we cannot recover your data if you delete the app, so see the backup question below.
Where is my data stored, and what happens if I delete the app?
Everything is stored on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes your rounds, roster and history along with it, permanently, because there is no copy on a server.
If you have iCloud Backup turned on, your device backup includes the app's data, so restoring a backup to a new phone brings your rounds with it.
I deleted a round by mistake. Can I get it back?
Yes, if you have not purged it. Deleting a round moves it to Recently Deleted rather than erasing it. Open the menu on the Rounds screen and choose Recently Deleted to restore it. Rounds you delete from that screen are gone for good.
Can I fix a score I entered on an earlier hole?
Yes. Go back to the hole and enter the correct number. Nothing is ever overwritten: the correction is appended as its own entry, so the history shows what changed and when.
That is deliberate. It means a quiet edit to someone's score on the back nine is impossible to hide.
My handicap strokes look wrong.
Strokes are allocated by the hole's stroke index, not spread evenly, so a player getting six shots gets them on the six hardest holes rather than one every three. Check the course's stroke indexes first, since a course you added by hand may have them in the default order.
Also check whether the round is using a handicap allowance, which scales everyone's strokes by a percentage. If it still looks wrong, email us with the numbers and we will work through it.
Does RoundPlay handle the money?
No, and it never will. It works out the fewest payments that settle every game and shows you who pays whom. Cash, Venmo, or a drink at the bar is between you. RoundPlay never holds, moves, or takes a cut of money.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Scoring is entirely on-device, and the course list is bundled into the app rather than fetched, so a dead zone on the back nine changes nothing.
My course isn't in the list.
Search by city or state as well as name, since many courses share a name. If it genuinely isn't there you can add it by hand with its pars and stroke indexes. Send us the course name and city too and we'll look at getting it into the bundled list.
Why does it ask for my location?
Only to put the courses nearest you at the top of the list. It takes a single low-accuracy reading while the app is open, never in the background, and the reading is not stored or transmitted. Declining is fine: search still works normally.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone running iOS 18 or later. There is no iPad or Android version yet.
How much does it cost?
RoundPlay is free while in beta. There are no ads, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases today. If that ever changes, existing rounds and history stay yours and stay readable.
Feature requests
Wanted: which game your group plays that RoundPlay doesn't support yet, and the house rules you use for it. Local variations are the whole difficulty with these formats, so the more precisely you describe how your group settles an edge case, the more likely it is to ship correctly.
